To Whom it may concern,
Hi, my name is Israel Cilio and I attend Union College. You probably don't know me so thanks for not deleting this message. I'm writing to you because you were in some way a part of Devin Adams' life.
As you know, our beloved friend passed away some months ago and left an empty void in all our lives, a void that nevertheless continues to inspire and encourage. One of these voids is at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska where she attended college as an English major. The Humanities-English division has long since felt a responsibility to somehow commemorate Devin's life in an act of community.
As such, the Humanities Division is putting together a documentary in tribute of Devin's life to present to her mother, Daina Mahon. It will be directed by Anthony Gilmore, a personal friend of Devin's and an experienced documentarian. I have joined the project as an archivist. This means that it's my job to compile pictures, poems, video, or any sort of memorabilia related to Devin.
We would like to cordially invite you to attend this documentary's screening which is tentatively set at April 21, 2007, here in Lincoln. We realize that for many of you this will not possible, but would still ask you to join our celebration of Devin in spirit.
What we need most is as much tangible evidence of Devin's life as possible. This is where you can contribute. We are asking friends of family to send us any pictures, poems, video, or any art that is somehow related to Devin. We would also appreciate stories, insights, or even mp3 files. We only ask that you send the pictures as large a size as possible and, if you can, to send us the physical DV cassettes so as to maximize the documentary's quality.
I realize that you might be reluctant to part with any mementos you might have of Devin. I’d like to assure you that everything you send in will be properly cared for and returned. It will also be respectfully presented at our screening and used to inspire others and benefit them in their process of healing.
Whatever you can do, we would gladly appreciate it, whether it be in your prayers, telling your friends about our project, or by sending this letter along to other you might be able to contribute. Thank you for your time.
In Love,
Wagner Israel Cilio III
